Our annual Max Ticktin Memorial Latkes-Hamantaschen Debate is always a very popular event!  Watch our humorous moderator and distinguished panelists conduct a scholarly, but absurdist symposium that addresses the eternal conundrum: “Which are better, latkes or hamantaschen?

Howard Mortman, C-SPAN Director of Communications, by popular demand is retuning as moderator for the fifth time.  His book When Rabbis Bless Congress: The Great American Story of Jewish Prayers on Capitol Hill was recently published.  Howard has also appeared on stage performing stand-up comedy at the DC Improv.

And his dedicated corps of debaters:

Matthew Cooper, Executive Editor of the Washington Monthly and has covered the White House and politics for Time magazine, The New Republic, Newsweek, and others.  He actually used to be funny.

Seth Frisch, Rabbi of the New Shul of America in Rydal, PA, founder and director of the Lehrhaus Institute of Jewish Studies and a former staff member of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

Esther Panitch, freshman member of Georgia House of Representatives who is introducing Jewish concepts and values to her fellow legislators.

Walter Shapiro, a writer at the New Republic, a columnist for Roll Call and a lecturer in political science at Yale, is getting ready to cover his 12th presidential campaign.  Before Covid and President Trump, he performed stand-up comedy at leading NYC clubs, often with Matt Cooper, sometimes with laughs.  His idea of adventure travel is crossing West 86th Street in Manhattan, sometimes even against the light!
